A Final Sip at Knowledge Perk

Image
For my last blog post, I went to Knowledge Perk, located on 1527 Gervais St, Columbia, and it couldn’t have been a better choice as finals season kicks in. This unique coffee shop is the perfect place to take a break or power through a study session. The menu offers a great variety of coffee drinks, teas, and pastries, all made with quality ingredients. The shop has plenty of seating and a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to focus or unwind. I got a Vanilla iced latte and have also tried their banana bread cold brew, which was delicious. Whether you’re cramming for exams or just looking for a quiet spot to recharge, Knowledge Perk is a must-visit for your finals week caffeine spot. Menu

Groucho’s Deli: A Columbia Favorite for Flavorful Eats

Image
As we approach our last week, I have two last places to share with you all. The first amazing food option is Groucho’s Deli, as it has quickly become one of my favorite casual spots to grab a bite. The menu has a great mix of hearty sandwiches, fresh salads, and their signature dipping sauces that really take everything up a notch. I tried their BLT, and it was packed with flavor, served with a side of their delicious Formula 45 sauce. Definitely worth the hype. Everything tasted fresh and was made to order, which made the meal even better. The portions were generous, and the prices felt very reasonable for the quality. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with that friendly neighborhood deli vibe that makes you want to come back. The staff was attentive and made sure everything came out just right. Whether you’re stopping in for dinner or a quick takeout, Groucho’s Deli is a great spot in Columbia for a satisfying meal. Menu

The All-You-Can-Eat Experience at Red Sake

Image
A couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to try  Red Sake , an all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant in Columbia, and it was an amazing experience. The menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of sushi, hibachi dishes, appetizers, and soups, all made to order. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, which isn’t always something you can say about all-you-can-eat spots. The atmosphere is clean and relaxed, and the service was attentive throughout the meal. For the price ($18.99 for lunch and $28.99 for dinner), the quality and selection make Red Sake an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy a generous and well-executed dining experience. Menu

A Quick Seafood Escape to The Oyster House

Image
I took a little weekend trip, so this week’s food pick is a bit different — The Oyster House in Charleston. It’s a super charming spot with a historic, coastal vibe and some of the freshest seafood I’ve had in a while. The raw bar is the star (their oysters are insanely good), but the fish tacos and ahi tuna appetizer deserve just as much hype. Tucked off of King Street, it's a quiet restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The whole place feels relaxed but polished, perfect for a slow weekend dinner. If you want a spot where you can sit back and enjoy really well-done seafood, The Oyster House definitely is the spot to try. Menu

Fresh Tacos and Fun Times at Cantina 76

Image
Next up is Cantina 76 in Columbia, SC, is the perfect spot for anyone craving delicious tacos and a fun, upbeat atmosphere. With two locations, one on Main Street and one on Devine Street, it’s known for its fresh, creative food. The space has an upbeat but casual vibe, making it great for everything from lunch with friends to a nicer dinner with family. The menu is full of creative options, with everything from classic chicken and beef tacos to shrimp, BBQ, and even buffalo chicken tacos, each made with fresh ingredients. Their queso and chips are a must-order starter, and I really enjoy their specialty tacos that tend to change with the season. Another favorite on the menu is the Chicken Salad, which is a deconstructed taco made in a tortilla bowl. Prices are great for college students, the portions are solid, and service is friendly and fast, even when the place is busy (which it often is). I'd definitely say to go on an off night, as it certainly gets crowded and they do not of...

Why Backstreets Grill Deserves a Spot on Your Columbia Food List

Image
Backstreets Grill in Columbia, SC, is a cozy neighborhood spot that’s great for a casual meal with friends or family. Located on Devine Street, it has both indoor and outdoor seating. The vibe is friendly and laid-back, making it a nice place to hang out and grab lunch/dinner. The service is usually good, and even when it gets busy, the staff stays welcoming and upbeat. The menu has something for everyone, from burgers and wraps to seafood and wings. I first tried the chicken sandwich, which I loved, but my absolute favorite thing on the menu is their Asian Chicken Wrap. Inside is grilled chicken and Asian slaw, wrapped in a wheat tortilla and served with a soy ginger dipping sauce. Served with any choice of side from the menu, it's easily one of my favorite wraps I've had here in Columbia. I'd say prices are fair for the quality and portion sizes, and they also have a happy hour during the week with great specials. Overall, Backstreets Grill is a dependable spot that serve...

A Perfect Blend of Comfort and Coffee at The Graduate

Image
Next up, we have the Graduate located at 1619 Pendleton St, Columbia, SC 29201. This is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a spot that blends great food and a student-friendly atmosphere. The Graduate is definitely a great place even just to stop in and see the decorated lobby. Located right near campus, it’s a great place to grab lunch with friends or stay for a productive study session. What really makes The Graduate special is the hotel experience itself. Whether you’re a visiting parent or a student hosting family, the rooms are comfortable and full of personality. On my last visit, I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap, and it did not disappoint. Beyond the food, the Graduate offers a great selection of coffee and espresso drinks, perfect for fueling a long study session. I also love that they offer student discounts, which makes it an affordable spot for college students on a budget. The atmosphere is calm yet lively, with plenty of seating and natural light. Overall, I really en...
